The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN):
Founded in 1973 and based in Washington, D.C., CRN is the leading trade association representing dietary supplement and functional food manufacturers and ingredient suppliers. CRN companies produce a large portion of the dietary supplements marketed in the United States and globally.

MedlinePlus:
MedlinePlus is the National Institutes of Health’s Web site for patients, their families and friends. Produced by the National Library of Medicine, the world’s largest medical library, Medline Plus provides information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues in easy-to-understand language, offering reliable, up-to-date health information for free.

FDA:
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulates both finished dietary supplement products and dietary ingredients under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA), a different set of regulations than those covering “conventional” foods and drug products.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics:
The world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1917, by a visionary group of women dedicated to helping the government conserve food and improve the public’s health and nutrition during World War I. Today, the Academy has over 100,000 credentialed practitioners, and is committed to improving the nation’s health and advancing the profession of dietetics through research, education and advocacy.

National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Dietary Supplements:
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) is the lead federal entity for the scientific exploration of dietary supplements. ODS continues to make remarkable progress in supporting research to understand if and how dietary supplements may help to promote health. The ODS develops and disseminates research tools to advance the science and work to increase the investigators who study dietary supplements.

The Supplement OWL® (Online Wellness Library):
An industry-wide, self-regulatory dietary supplement product registry, The Supplement OWL serves as a resource for regulators, retailers, and the industry; to identify products, their ingredients and the companies who market them. The Supplement OWL permits registry users to examine and evaluate labels and other product information.
